DESCRIPTION:

The St. Louis District Leadership Development Program Tier 2 (LDP) and the Supervisory Leadership Development Program (SLDP) were designed to systematically develop the leadership strengths, situational awareness, and skills of the St. Louis District’s current and future leaders. The program helps USACE staff define and develop their own personal leadership styles through exposure to self-assessments and training modules to better lead self and teams. They are given opportunities to reflect and draw lessons from their experiences, encouraged to ask questions, think critically, and to listen and speak in ways that inform and inspire others. The program is tailored for USACE employees and must be taught the context in which the USACE operates at the district, division, and headquarters level. Opportunities are provided to meet and discuss issues with key leaders. The program is intended to teach perspective on how organizational systems operate, what it means to be a learning organization, and how to be an effective agent of change. The LDP increases class members’ skills in working in teams and provides the opportunity to build lasting relationships with classmates from throughout the St. Louis District. The program builds participants’ skills and competency to deal with the current environment and future challenges.
