Q: Clarification is requested regarding the bonding requirement as stated in paragraph 1.4.5. of the performance work statement. It appears unusual for a surety bond to be required for opportunities of this nature and size.



A: The bond is a dishonesty bond, and its purpose is to cover the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District, in the event of theft of collected fees, or other accountable property, by the contractor. The requirement for a surety bond is standard on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District, park attendant contracts.
