INVITATION FOR BIDS

The City of Clayton is accepting sealed bids for the #1 Oak Knoll Roof Replacement Project. Bids will be received by the City of Clayton Director of Parks and Recreation, 50 Gay Avenue, Clayton, MO 63105, until 10:00 A.M. CDT, on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. The bids will then be publicly opened and read aloud at The Center of Clayton, Meeting Room A at 10:05 A.M. The Scope of Work for this contract includes furnishing all labor and material required to complete the project. The Scope of Work for this Contract includes furnishing all labor, materials and equipment necessary to remove and replace the existing roof system, gutters, and downspouts on the #1 Oak Knoll Park Building. The current roof system (approximately 7300 sq. ft in total), consists primarily of slate tile, standing seam copper, and sections of flat roof, as well as copper gutters and downspouts.

Base Bid

  • Provide a lump sum bid to replace the slate tile with “faux” synthetic slate tiles. Flat roof areas to be replaced with material similar to existing. Copper shall be used for all flashing, gutters, and downspouts.
    • *For Example Only - One example of “faux” synthetic slate tile is Brava-Old World Slate
    • **Please provide copies of the specification sheets for the particular product you intend to use.

Bid Alternate #1

  • Provide a bid for an alternate material for the flashing, gutters, and downspouts while maintaining the current aesthetics of the building.

Bid Alternate #2

  • Provide a bid for replacing the slate tiles with a “slate look” architectural shingle. Flat roof areas to be replaced with material similar to existing. Copper shall be used for all flashing, gutters, and downspouts.
    • *For example only - One example of “slate look” shingles is Certanteed-Belmont shingles.
    • **Please provide copies of the specification sheets for the particular product you intend to use.

The City intends to issue a Notice to Proceed on or before April 12, 2024.

Bid documents will be available from the city’s website: www.claytonmo.gov/bids starting Friday, March 1, 2024.

Questions regarding this project should be directed to Justin Whipple, Superintendent of Parks, City of Clayton. All questions shall be submitted in writing via email to jwhipple@claytonmo.gov .

No questions will be accepted after 5:00 PM on Thursday, March 22, 2024.

Not less than the prevailing hourly rate of wages shall be paid to all workmen performing under this contract in this area according to the rates determined by the Department of Labor and

Industrial Relations of the State of Missouri.
